Step One Having completed the drawing and put in a few strokes of masking fluid for the grasses over the white of the dogs paws, the first washes were added. A mixture of burnt sienna and yellow ochre for the background and another mixture of burnt sienna and ultramarine to make a plum colour for the dogs coat.

Step Two I have now added a few grasses in various shades of green and started to create the detail of the animal's nose and eye and added a little shadow in places.

Step Three More feathery detail on the fur with weak black, another layer on nose and eye and more shadow under his body using the plum colour again. More grasses added at random.

Finished Painting The masking fluid has been rubbed away and replaced with grassy strokes. Much darker shadow under the body of the dog and another overall wash of yellow ochre in the background and we're finished.
